FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
PLEASE CHECK WITH LAWS IN YOUR COUNTRY BEFORE PREFORMING ANY SOLVENT BASED HYDROCARBON EXTRACTION, WWW.420PMUK.COM DO NOT CONDONE OR PROMOTE ANY ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES. OUR CUSTOMERS AGREE TO USE OUR PRODUCTS AT THIER OWN RISK.
WHAT IS SOLVENT EXTRACTION?
Liquid–liquid extraction also known as solvent extraction and partitioning, is a method to separate compounds based on their relative solubility’s in two different immiscible liquids, usually water and an organic solvent. It is an extraction of a substance from one liquid into another liquid phase.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF CLOSED LOOP EXTRACTION?
Safety. Containing your solvent within your extraction method is safer and allows recycling.
WHAT SOLVENTS CAN I USE IN YOUR EXTRACTORS?
Our extractors can be used with N-Butane, Iso-Butane, N-Propane or any mixture of the three solvents. Please contact us for compatibility with any other solvents.
WHAT KIND OF YIELDS CAN YOUR EXTRACTORS PROVIDE?
The yield depends on a range of variables including, but not limited to, the method of the extraction, the temperature of the solvent, the temperature of the material, and the quality of the material. Our extractors are able to provide the maximum yield from the material packed into the column. Alternatively, you can use the extractor to maximize quality of the product over the quantity. Therefore, the yield depends on the operator and the goal of the extraction.
ARE YOUR EXTRACTORS EASY TO CLEAN & HOW OFTEN SHOULD THEY BE CLEANED?
The stainless steel component of the extractors should be cleaned after every extraction with 91% or higher isopropyl alcohol. Be sure to take special care when cleaning Viton rubber gaskets as prolonged exposure to alcohol will degrade the gasket.
CAN I RUN MY EXTRACTOR INDOORS?
Anytime dangerous, explosive gases (Example: N-Butane, Iso-Butane, N-Propane) are used the work space should be an open, unobstructed, well ventilated area with ABSOLUTELY NO IGNITION SOURCES. We recommend operating our extractors with a hazardous exhaust system to ensure adequate ventilation is always maintained. As ignition of these gases can result in severe injury or death, extreme care should be used at all times.
HOW TIGHT MUST THE HIGH PRESSURE CLAMPS BE?
The double bolt clamps should be evenly clamped down from both sides, switching from one to the other consistently. A washer should be in between the bolt and the clamp. Tighten the bolts down with a tool until you hear them squeak. The clamps should not need to be touching to be tight. 27Nm
